Making Information Technology Accessible

Creating Accessible Web Pages

The University of Minnesota standards for accessible Web design can be found on the Web Accessibility Standards page of the Accessibility of Information Technology web site. The expectation is that all University faculty, staff and venders with whom the University contracts for Web development will incorporate these standards.

Modifying Legacy Web Pages

The updating and replacing of existing University web resources should address and implement the Accessibility of Information Technology Web Accessibility Standards. Whenever possible, functional accessibility should be assessed using adaptive technology.

Acquiring Accessible Software and Hardware

Steps to follow for acquiring accessible hardware and software are incorporated in the University purchasing processes. If you have specific questions you can contact Purchasing Services at 612-624-2828. Indicate to Purchasing Services that technology accessibility specifications apply when the purchasing requisition is completed.

Meeting the Technical Needs of persons with Disabilities

If any member of the University community or visitor requires assistance or an accommodation in order to access appropriate information should contact the following resources.
